Patch 2.1 Preview: Classic StarCraft Soundtrack in StarCraft II

Players around the world have been constructing additional Pylons to the music of StarCraft and StarCraft: Brood War for over fifteen years now, and we’ve heard your feedback that the soundtracks from these titles would make great additions to StarCraft II. If you’ve ever found yourself wishing you could rock out to “Terran Two” while crushing your opponents on the StarCraft II ladder, you may be pleased to know that you’ll soon be able to do just that. We’ve re-mastered the classic StarCraft and Brood War soundtracks and will be making them available for play in StarCraft II with the release of Patch 2.1.

If you’d love to soak in the aural nostalgia of the original StarCraft soundtrack, simply navigate to the Sound tab in the Options menu (F10) and locate the “Soundtrack” option in the lower right portion of the screen. You can then select which soundtrack you’d like to play during your games from the dropdown list.

Here are your options:

  • StarCraft / Brood War: Only music from the classic StarCraft soundtrack will play.
  • StarCraft II: Only StarCraft II music will play.
  • All: Music from all StarCraft soundtracks will play at random.

Crank up the volume, because your tunes of choice will be ready to greet your ears the next time you fire up a game of StarCraft II in any non-campaign mode.

You can help us test this and other new features right now on the Public Test Realm as we prepare to roll out Patch 2.1 at a later date. Head here to learn about what’s currently available for testing on the PTR, as well as how to gain access.
